Meet the Artist: Monolux
Monolux, based in the vibrant city of Rotterdam, has been on a musical journey for about 15 years. It all started with the simple joy of playing records, which ignited a deeper passion for production. His discovery of the magic of creation through Ableton Live 6—a digital audio workstation he has stuck with ever since—was a pivotal moment. For Monolux, music quickly transformed into an escape, a sanctuary where he could immerse himself completely. In those moments, time seems to stand still, and he finds himself driven solely by sound and creativity. This sensation of total immersion fuels his unwavering passion for making music, allowing him to express himself in ways that words often cannot.
Having worked in the event industry, Monolux was constantly surrounded by an array of instruments, which sparked his interest in learning to play the drums and keys. Each new sound and rhythm he encountered deepened his appreciation for the craft. His vision for the future is clear: he dreams of leaving behind the hustle and bustle of city life to set up a studio in the peaceful countryside. In this serene environment, he envisions music taking center stage, allowing him to craft and produce with renewed focus and inspiration. Ultimately, Monolux aspires to build a life where making music is not just a passion but a means of sustaining a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.
Monolux is a prolific producer who is consistently releasing quality songs in the Lofi Hip Hop music arena. Some of my favorite tracks from him so far are his song "Drowsy Afternoon" a collaboration with Milocero, and his track "Drifting" which was part of our first compilation album "Light Years Away".
